OUR
VISION
The art of live performance is about making connections. Connections with self. Connections with spirit. With soul. With breath. With voice. Connections with stories. Connections with others. Our neighbours. Our families. Our communities. theatreSiX exists to foster those connections with artist and audience and excel in the art of theatre.
OUR
NAME
The idea for the name of theatreSiX was born out of a myriad of reasons:
- Our home, Toronto, has been nicknamed the SIX to include the six boroughs that make up the City of Toronto – York, East York, North York, Etobicoke, Scarborough, and Toronto.
- In numerology, SIX is connected with balance, responsibility and love. It connects to intuition, inner vision and inner wisdom. The key to the numerology 6 life path number is love toward others in order to exist for others. Life path number 6 brings the energy of practicality, realism, materialization of harmony, craft and work in service.
- In Chinese culture, the number SIX is very fortunate, and those with the lucky number 6 serve people well with their heart and soul.
- In the early meditation traditions of Hinduism, the six chakras make up the focal points within the “subtle body”.
OUR
MISSION
Through the exploration and presentation of new and existing stories, theatreSiX strives to bring together innovative artists to provoke and inspire our audiences: invigorating our past, examining our present and imagining our future.
